default
Posted on Thu, 29 Jan 2015
Question: I injured the top of my right foot about 10 years ago. I stepped off a curb and the ball of my foot went down buy my heel stayed on the curb. I felt immediate pain then, but it eventually it went away. Now it bothers all the time. I can't wear heels anymore because the weight on it is almost unbearable. What can it be?

Brief Answer:
The joint may have been damaged!

Detailed Answer:
Hi and thank you so much for this query.

I am so sorry to hear about the pains and difficulties you are experiencing with this leg. It is rather unfortunate but this injury you sustained 10 years ago might have made the foot susceptible to wear and tear. The nature of your symptoms are suggestive of a possible joint damage. I will suggest that you consult an orthopedic surgeon and get the leg examined and an xray done. This would look at the bony structure and most importantly the joints. This would be a major step towards identifying the exact disease condition and treating adequately. For now, avoid bearing weight on this joint. Continue with the pain medications until we identify what the exact cause is and treat accordingly.

I hope this helps. I wish you well. Feel free to ask for more information and clarifications if need be.
