Question: Hello. I have had an infestation of fleas for 7 months now. Had two pesticide companies out and did not help. I also tried several things myself to no avail. I am afraid that now they are internal. I can feel them crawling in my eyes and one side of my face is swollen. Not sure what to do for myself as in what kind of doctor deals with this? I have not left the country ever and do not have any associations with anyone who has! Please advise, thank you XXXXXXX

Brief Answer:
Fleas may cause itchy rash on your skin.

Detailed Answer:
Hello XXXX

I had gone through your question and understand your concerns.

Fleas don't live on people. They rather prefer to feed on humans. Fleas can bites you so you may have itchy and painful rash which remains small mosquito bites.

Bites may appear around the ankles or legs and this is their most likely location.

Please note that fleas do not live inside humans body.

If you have this rash you can relieve the symptoms of flea bites with over-the-counter anti-itch creams. Try to avoid scratching this area.

If you have pet at your home it will need to be treated with pesticides to kill the fleas.

However if you feel that you can not handle with your problem make an appointment with your GP doctor or infectious disease doctor so that he or she will examine you and decide if your symptoms are caused by fleas or maybe there is another reason of our symptoms.

Hope I have answered your question. If you have any further questions I will be happy to help.
