Brief Answer:
Shoulder bursitis treatment

Detailed Answer:

Hello,

Your wife seems to be suffering from bursitis that is the inflammation of bursa due to trauma, infection or underlying rheumatoid diseases.

What you should do:
1) Rest. Don't let her move the shoulder
2) Ice compresses
3) Elevation
4) Use anti-inflammation drugs such Advil, Naproxen to reduce inflammation, pain and swelling

If she doesn't feel better go to your doctor and he can do aspiration of fluid, and injection of corticosteroids if there is no infection.
If doctor finds infection antibiotics may be needed.
Which type of antibiotics will be determined by culture of fluid.

Hope I have answered your questions.
