Brief Answer:
Swallowing exercises

Detailed Answer:
Hello

Thanks for the query

Dimished gag reflex can be debilitating. It will take several weeks for it to regain function. This is how you should go about it

1. make sure your food is chewed adequately before swallowing
2. put small amounts of food into your mouth, it should be 1/2 the portion that you normally put in your mouth while eating
3. Make sure you are upright while eating
4. do not sleep immediately after dinner, stay up of atleast 2 hours after eating
5. I usually recommend gag exercises. Breath through your nose while you mouth is opened and tongue on the roof of your mouth, do this for 5 minutes daily , 5 times a day. Second exercise is to touch the back of your throat with a soft bristled tooth brush three times a day. This will stimulate the nerves to function

I hope I was of help, if you have any further queries please get back to me
