I have been having debilitating pain for over a week now in my left side radiating down to my thigh. If I sit or lay down I can hardly walk initially, it hurts to lay on that side as well.

It seems to be greater trochenteric bursitis or some spinal problems, but should be proven clinically by a rheumatologist.
I advised you to see your doctor and meanwhile take pain killer, hot water fomentation and avoid lifting heavy weight and excessive bending.
