Question: My mother (XXXX) is being diagnosed for Blepharospasm since last 2 months with Pacitane 2 mg (Trihexyphenidyl hydrochloride) 3 times a day and Clonorest 0.5 mg (Clonazepam) once a day at night. The medication has resulted in anxiety, drowsiness, tiredness and pain in joints and muscles of knee and elbow. Should we change medication? If yes, then what is prescribed?

Brief Answer:
Botox injections are the best

Detailed Answer:
Hi,

Thank you for posting your query.

I have noted your mother's diagnosis, current medications and side effects due to them.

For blepharospasm, the best treatment is botox injections, which are given in eyelid muscles.

Medications such as pacitane also help some people, however, the benefit is mild and side effects are common.

Clonazepam is used for treating anxiety and would not help in blepharospasm.

I hope my reply has helped you.

I would be pleased to answer, if you have any follow up queries or if you require any further information.
