Brief Answer:
Visit your dermatologist and try these home remedies.

Detailed Answer:
Hi,

Thanks for your query.

I understand your concerns. In Alopecia areata, the body attacks its own hair follicles. It is due to the genetic makeup, combined with other factors like stress also triggers this form of hair loss. It is an autoimmune disorder and doesn't have a permanent cure.

For alopecia areata barbae (that is limited only to the beard) you should meet your dermatologist for:

- Steroid injections into the bald patches to suppress the local immune reaction. Steroid cream, gel, etc, may help hair re-growth. Re-growth occurs in 3-6 months. There is no point continuing with this treatment if you do not develop any re-growth even after 6 months.

- Minoxidil solution: If it works, it usually takes 2-3 months of treatment for an initial response (re-growth), and one year for a maximum response.

- Psoralen combined with ultraviolet A (PUVA) light therapy or phototherapy.

- Dermatography (tattooing).

Many reasons like medical conditions and lifestyle choices can lead to hair thinning.

You can try some of these home remedies:

- Improve your diet: Includes a good amount of protein rich foods. Leafy vegetables have plenty of vitamin B, Foods enriched with minerals like iron and zinc like liver, chocolate, egg yolks, pumpkin seeds, wheat germ and shellfish. will surely improve your hair growth.

- Hair thickening shampoos: See that the shampoo you use doesn’t have added sulphates and drying agents like alcohol, which causes the hair to break.

- Oil massage: Massaging your hair with coconut, almond, olive or sesame oil can increase blood circulation to the scalp and strengthen the roots of your hair.

I would suggest you to meet your dermatologist and discuss all the treatment options best for you.

I hope this answered your query.
