Suggest Remedy For Swelling And Pain On The Wisdom Tooth

default
Posted on Mon, 27 Apr 2015
Question: I had a problem with my bottom-left Wisdom teeth. It was not able to come out properly and was causing pain in my left-half face. After taking advice from doctor, I went through surgery(7 days back) to get it removed.

I had swelling/pain near jaw for around 4 days. Things were settling down and my swelling/pain was gone but 2 days back, I started having same pain in left-half face(as before molar extraction). I have two stitches and area around tastes salty. I went to doctor but she wasn't bothered by it and said everything is normal and you are healing properly, stitches will be removed after one more week . I was gargling, using mouth-wash as prescribed by the doctor.

Is everything alright? What am I supposed to do when I have pain?

Brief Answer:
Nothing to be worried

Detailed Answer:
Hello XXXXXXX ,

Thanks for consulting Healthcaremagic.
This is Dr. Priyanka Tiwari answering your query .

Read your query and understand your concern as you have same pain in left half face with salty taste in mouth after one week of extraction there is nothing to be worried so much see what happened is when extraction socket is slightly open or socket not closes over the gum tissue completly then it is not unsual to have slight pain or salty taste or odd taste .

For this I will suggest you to do warm saline rinses several times a day and if all is healing well then you will notice improvement every day . By end of this week if you still getting salty taste and pain then consult your oral surgeon for Intra oral periapical xray for evaluation of cause of pain and salty taste in mouth .

Hope I have answered your query .
If you have further query I will be happy to help.
