Question: Hi there feeling strange and slow in thought with headache after taking Macrobid for a possible UTI. Just took Benadryl but am worried.

Hi

Thank you for asking Health care magic forum.

Head ache, dizziness and slowness of thought are usual side effects of this antibiotic. You should not consume alcohol with this. Caffeinated drinks should be avoided. Better to avoid coffee and reduce tea also while taking this.

Have proper sleep. Taking Benadryl may worsen the condition. So don't take it again. Drink more water. But if symptoms are more troublesome for you then consult your doctor to change to another drug.

Macrobid (nitrofurantoin) is not a sulpha drug. So there is no problem in taking it while having sulfa allergy.
