Brief Answer:
It is normal in such transitional period

Detailed Answer:
Thanks for posting on HealthCareMagic. I have gone through the details provided by you. The first thing I would ask you to do is to relax. You have done the right thing by weaning the baby to semi solid food. Please do not worry as the food that you are giving the baby is right for him. This is a transitional period and naturally the baby will take time to get oriented to the new kind of food. So, if the baby passes undigested food substances intact in the stool, there is nothing to worry about. This may continue for a few more weeks. The gastro intestinal system takes time to develop properly. Passing stool 5-6 times is absolutely acceptable and you need not worry so long as the stool is not hard or watery.

Breast milk or any other milk is not adequate to meet his energy requirements. As a result, the supplementation with semi solids needs to be done. I would ask you to avoid the cow milk as it is hard to digest. Give him curd or yogurt instead. Give a hand-mashed version of rice based diet with pulses and vegetables boiled together. The items you have mentioned, are proper and you may relax.

Another thing that needs to be done is to keep a track of the weight of the child. It should be monitored at monthly or three-monthly intervals and charted on a growth chart in order to monitor if the child is growing properly.
