Suggest Remedy For Chronic Pain In The Chest

Posted on Fri, 13 Mar 2015
Question: I have chronic pain in my left chest. Kind of like cramps. I can actually press my chest and feel increased pain so it might be muscles but its a very peculure pain. I also get a pain in my left upper inner arm and wrist along with occasional numbness in my left arm and leg. But the most concerning symptom is what feels like and adrenaline rush in my chest followed by an immediate gasp for air and an increase in heart rate for several minutes. During these episodes I feel like I might die, I breath through it and then im fine. these episode only happen every couple of moments but they scare the hell out of me. the other symtoms can be daily and disappear for several weeks then come back for a week or more. any clues?

also the episodes only happen after 8pm except once and that one was at 5pm and they usually happen while driving. the other symptoms are more often in the evening but can happen in the day too. I also usually know if Im going to have and episode soon I just don't know how soon and what make me feel like its going to happen. I am also usually quite relaxed and stress free.

Brief Answer:
seems muscular pain mostly.

Detailed Answer:
Hello dear, thanks for your question on HCM.
I can understand your situation and problem.
Your symptoms are mostly related to muscular pain because tenderness (pain on touch and pressing) is characteristic feature of muscular pain and seen less commonly in cardiac causes.
Since you are also taking medicines for high blood pressure, we need to first rule out cardiac causes.
So we should wait for your reports of ECG, stress test and holter monitoring.
If all these are normal then no need to worry much for cardiac causes.
So we need to wait till your reports are available.
Hope I have solved your query.
I will be happy to help you further.
Wish you good health.
Thanks.

I agree it seems muscular but I left out that I have had this for 8 months and the episodes are not muscular they are very scarey. Also occasionally my heart rate will be over 110 sitting still, this can last for hours. Maybe I'm over analyzing it by I have never had any health issues and this has gotten to the point that I actually wonder about my mortality and don't do things i normally would for fear I might not live much longer. The daily pain I can deal with its the racing heart rate for no reason and the adrenelane surges that I want to deal with. I've started walking and losing weight in hopes that those will help but nothing yet.

Brief Answer:
Wait for your Cardiac reports first.

Detailed Answer:
Thanks for your follow up question on HCM.
I can understand your situation.
In my opinion we should wait for your cardiac reports first.
If everything is ok or normal in these reports then anxiety can be the cause for your symptoms.
But we need to first wait for the reports before stamping anxiety as cause.
Hope I have solved your query.
I will be happy to help you further.
Wish you good health.
Thanks.
