Brief Answer:
Tooth impaction

Detailed Answer:
Hello

As per your query it seems like a case of wisdom tooth impaction. It is a common dental problem. At this age wisdom tooth gets erupted. During eruption it causes pain that is normal. But such normal pain gets away after complete eruption. In your case however it seems that the tooth is tilted and can't fully erupt causing more pain. This is a case of impaction and it has to be removed.

Therefore I agree to your doctor / surgeon's treatment. It's better you should get it removed.

hope this answer helps.
