Brief Answer:
Continue regular dressing of the wound.

Detailed Answer:

Hello,

Since she had already undergone varicose vein repair and ulcer debridement, and she is undergoing regular dressing/bandaging of ulcer by the doctor, there is not much more needed at this point. A regular dressing is the mainstay of management here.

If the treating physician seems that ulcer is not healing or there is a possible infection, antibiotic will be initiated. In that case, please discuss with her treating physician regarding the need for antibiotics.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Thanks for the response . Due to healing process taking long time and likelihood of infection , the doctor is suggesting Skin Grafting . How difficult is this and to what extent will it help. ?

Brief Answer:
Skin graft will help the healing process go faster.

Detailed Answer:

Hello,

Skin grafting will definitely help protect the area from infection and make the healing process faster. The surgery is not very risky. Skin from other parts of the body or animal skin will be grafted on to the ulcer.

If her surgeon thinks that skin grafting is needed, please go ahead and follow his recommendation.

Hope I have answered your query.
