Posted on Mon, 16 May 2016
Question: Hi I am a paying member here, but have a question not really related to my health, it is my 87 year old mother, who does have heart problems, we are trying to purchase a stairlift for her to up and down stairs, do you recommend one that is usually used by your patients and not too expensive, and does insurance help pay for that?

I am sorry I forgot to mention, I am looking for a company to that makes stairlift assistance to patients that can no longer walk up and down the steps

Brief Answer:
Stair lifts

Detailed Answer:
I am sorry to hear that you mother is having difficulty ambulating within her home. There are so many available lift chairs that we can't make any recommendations. Medicare does not help with the cost of lift chairs. In some cases VA benefits can help but you would need to talk with the VA before purchasing a chair to see if she qualifies
