Can I stop taking avodart as I already have prostate cancer.

Hello and thank you for sending your question.

I would not discontinue the Avodart at this time unless your physician specifically instructs you to do so. The Avodart is actually serving to help alleviate any enlargement of the prostate which could contribute to urinary symptoms.

For this reason I would continue taking the Avodart until further instruction from your doctor. If you stop this medication it is possible you might develop urinary symptoms including difficulty starting urination or possibly urinary retention.

Thanks again For sending your question. Please let me know if you have any additional specific concerns.
