Brief Answer:
There is no harm in going for Endoscopic Fragmentation of stone

Detailed Answer:
Hello
Thanks for query .

Based on the facts that you have posted your 81 yers old mother with diabetes has been detected to have a stone of a size of 8 mm in distal part of left ureter .

As regards treatment for stone in ureter she can safely undergo endoscopic surgery of fragmentation of stone .This is a minimally access surgery with excellent results and will help her to decompress her kidney and there by help to prevent further damage to her left kidney and restore kidney function to near normal. She will need hospitalization only for two days .

Please note that in a present era of high tech and advanced endoscopic equipments advance age is no bar for any major or minor surgery.

Go ahead and get it done .

Hope I have answered your query ,please feel free to ask if you have more questions,I shall be happy to help you .

Thanks and Regards.
