Should The ER Be Visited Again If BP Readings Are Not Reducing After Taking Hypertension Medication?
Question: BP has been normal up until this week. Went to dr. on Tues for sinsus/head cold and the dr noted that BP was higher than normal (168/110). Attributed it to OTC meds taken advised to stop OTC meds and to watch pressure. Thurs BP was 181/122, so went to ER. Treated with meds and sent home with prescription for meds. Today BP was 149/103 upon waking, took BP meds. It is several hours post med and it is 159/104. Dr office closed and answer service is off... should I go to ER?
Brief Answer:
Need regular monitoring
Detailed Answer:
Hello Sir,
I can understand your concern,
After going through your medical details I'd like to inform you that as of now there is no need to visit an ER. But yes, a close watch on your blood pressure reading is required and if anytime it goes at 180/110 or beyond then you should visit an ER.
As of now I'd suggest you to just calm and relax as much as you can. Take the blood pressure reading after every 2 hrs.
If things go fine then in morning you need to consult with your doctor to adjust the dosage of the prescribed medicine as per your blood pressure.
I hope this information will guide you properly. Feel free to ask further.
Kind Regards
