Several Times On Routine CBC, I Have Seen High Absolute

default
Posted on Sat, 11 Apr 2020
Question: Several times on routine CBC, I have seen high absolute eosinophils. Most recently, the count was 0.5 x 10e3 uL.

I have also in the past been diagnosed with eosinophilic esophagitis, which has come and gone on biopsy.

Are these two findings possibly related? If so, what should my next step be?

Brief Answer:
No, they are not related.

Detailed Answer:
Thanks for your question on Ask a doctor forum.
I can understand your concern.
Blood eosinophilia is mostly responsible for asthma and other allergic etiology.
And it is not associated or related with eosinophilic esophagitis.
So I don't think you need to worry for this slightly high eosinophil count.
Please let me know
1. Do you have any allergic symptoms like cough, wheezing, rhinitis etc?
2. Do you have any chest pain or regurgitation?
Please reply me answers of above asked questions so that I can guide you better about next step.
I will be happy to help you further. Wish you good health. Thanks.
