Please Tell Me If This Product Is Acceptable To Take

Posted on Sat, 26 Dec 2020
Question: Please tell me if this product is acceptable to take to lower my blood pressure and cholesterol. I have to watch my sugar intake because I am a pre diabetic. See the ingredients below:

120/Life - Product
NUTRITION FACTS
There are roughly 10 grams of sugar in the drink, all of which come from the ingredients we use to make it. However, the drink contains no added sugars; instead, we sweeten the drink with stevia, an all-natural sugar substitute.

INGREDIENTS: Water, Pomegranate Juice, Sour Cherry Juice, Cranberry Juice, Beet Root, Hibiscus Flower, Citric Acid, Magnesium Chelate, Stevia, Agar

Calories - 90
Also, I'm planning to start taking Wiley's Finest Bold Heart Product. It's a plant based Dietary Supplement. Please get back with me asap. Thanks

Brief Answer:
I would not recommend any of them. Eating the fresh food is better

Detailed Answer:
Hello,
Thank you for using "Ask a doctor" service.

The first product has a lot of suggar. I do not think you need it. 10 grams are a lot of sugar even for a non diabetic, considering that you are taking empty calories. You can better take that sugar by taking the real fruit, so at least you get the benefits of it like the fibers and feeling full. I would not recommend to take it more then once per week.

The second product is a supplement which contains a lot of unsaturated fats that comes from pine tree. Unsaturated fats are good for the body and many people do not get enough of them through food. But 2g is a lot and everything taken in excess amount is not good for the body. Again I would recommend taking unsaturated fats by taking foods like avovado, different nuts including pine nuts. Also if you have high lipids in your body and you are taking statines medicines to lower them, it would be extra hard for the medicines to work.

Hope this is helpful. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Kind regards,
Dr. Klarida Papaqako,

Dr. For some reason I just received your response but I see you sent it earlier. I don't know what happened there. But, I never stated that I take statin drugs because I don't. I'm trying everything in my possible power to not be placed on medication for my cholesterol. I do take blood pressure medicine and I'm trying to come off that as well because I depise taking medicine. I have alot of allergies so II'm unable to eat avocados and alot of different nuts. I asked about these products because they have received EXCELLENT reviews and ratings on line to do what they claim they will do. Any suggestions???? Thanks!

Brief Answer:
This supplement will not treat your cholesterol. You need to regulate diet

Detailed Answer:
Hello,

Thank you for the follow-up question.

The Wiley supplement is not a medicine. It is just a supplement. You are basically going to take fat/lipids, only the goes ones. If you continue with the same diet you had before starting this supplement, your cholesterol will not go down but higher. This supplement makes sense only if you remove as much as possible other bad fat in your diet, and since you cannot eat good fats (avocado and nuts) then you make it through this supplement.

I hope I answered your question. Let me know if you have other questions or concerns.

Kind regards,
Dr Papaqako

I am definitely confused by your response as when I read it., it does not make sense to me. Please reread your reasons and explain again. I eat peanuts with sea salt. I can eat cashews if need be. So, can I take the supplement or not? Yes, I know that this supplement is not a medicine And I never stated it was. I was only trying to say that I am not on medicine from the doctor for lowering cholesterol And that I wanted to try as much natural products before trying actual medicine.

Brief Answer:
I would not recommend both of them.

Detailed Answer:
Hello,

I'm sorry if my answer was confusing. As in this way of answering I have to guess a lot of information about your health and include all possible options in my answer.
I will try to summerize my answer.
1) 120/life product is not good for a diabetic person. I would not recommend it. It contains a lot of sugar.
2) Wiley's supplement is not going to help you if you do not reduce fats in your diet. It is just processed fat extracted from the pine tree. By taking it you basically take fats.
3) That is what I would recommend. -Eat a healthy diet, -a lot of fruit and vegetables, -drink 2-3 liters of water, -avoid eating a lot of sweet foods, -avoid eating animal fat like butter, fatty meat, and instead eat foods rich in plant fat like any types of nut, use olive oil for example instead of butter, -walk daily and if possible exercise 3 times per week.

Let me know if it makes sense and if you have more need for clarifications.

Kind regards,
Dr. Papaqako

Brief Answer:
There is only one attachment. Here is my review and advice.

Detailed Answer:
Hello,

I see only one attachment. Here are my thoughts about that product.
- Normal crackers, quite fat, no fibers.
- Not a healthy product.
- 3 crackers have 70 calories, equal to one slice of bread. But instead bread has less fat, and fills more because has more fiber especially the integral bread.
- I would suggest that you use an very helpful app if you would like. Its called myfitnesspal. You can input every product there and check the macronutrients on them. Your goal on a day should be 50% carbs, 30% fat, 20% protein. These can also be converted in grams so you can know what products to choose in your diet.

Hope this is helpful. Let me know if I can assist you further.
