On Thursday Evening, I Took Just A Few Bites Of

Question: On Thursday evening, I took just a few bites of dinner and couldn't swallow. I kept spitting up parts of it but just couldn't swallow. An ambulance came and took me to a hospital. At the hospital I was able to throw up and everything came out. They kept me 90 minutes or so. I was able to drink water, so swallowing was no longer an issue, which means they had no reason to admit me. I was told to keep to clear liquids and a soft food diet, and referred to a gastroenterologist. That appointment is Monday afternoon. Since Thursday night, I've been aware of phlegm/mucus in my throat. I can feel it, I regularly clear my throat and sometimes have to spit out. I've felt it more since I took Z Quill late that night to help me sleep (I do this pretty often).

Earlier today, I was out for a long walk. I was feeling OK, but then I wasn't. My mouth got incredibly dry and I had difficulty wallowing. I got back home, got some water, and I'm OK again. I know I have the gastroenterology appointment Monday, but I'd like some words of wisdom now. Could a build-up of phlegm/mucus be causing all of these issues? If so, what are solutions? If not, what could be?

Answer given below

Detailed Answer:
Hi,
Some of the possible causes are postnasal drip, gastroesophageal reflux disease with globus pharyngeus and sometimes even simple severe dehydration
If the symptoms are persistent, EGD Scopy may be done to rule out if anything is causing obstruction.
