Hello and welcome to Ask A Doctor service.

I have reviewed your query and here is my advice.

Brief Answer:
Your vitamin D levels are just borderline for deficiency

Detailed Answer:
Hi again

Your vitamin D levels are just borderline for deficiency. Less than 20 is deficient. Natural sources of vitamin D are considered best like exposure to sunlight, milk, orange juice. From your previous query it seems you have already tried vitamin D supplements. How long did you take, and how was the response? What are your current symptoms?

If oral Dvion or calcirol 60,000IU is not effective, then intramuscular 300000IU might be needed one dose. We also need to be aware of its toxicity as it may cause side effects when taken in excess.
So I will suggest that you take oral Dvion or calcirol once a week for one month and recheck the vitamin D levels in the blood.

Hope this helps. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Hi,

Last year the vitamin D levels were showing 20 ng/mL and I was suggested oral Dvion 60,000 IU weekly for 12 weeks and I took the same. But I didn't do the blood tests again after taking the medicine. It was after almost a year that I did the blood tests again and the vitamin D levels were showing 18 ng/mL. As you suggested I will take the same medicine again for a few weeks and see the response.

Thanks,
