My Mother Suffering With Ibs D From 4 Years. She
Question: My mother suffering with ibs d from 4 years.
She used tablets ibset 5mg and mycolon c
Daily regularly
But from one month her potassium level decreases 2.2
Here doctors are express doubt ibset tab.using . Any side effective. Will come causes low potassium level.
Plz help me.
Here doctors are using kcl plus magnesium drip back. 500 ml

Some times loose motions 4 to 5 times
She using Tab. Andial
At night after dinner. Mycolon-c
1978 heart operated condition is ok
Bp 120/ 72 after tablet using
Oximeter oxygen 96 to 97
Pulse 75 to 85
She suffering with ibs. D. From 4 years
2016 her weight is 58. Kgs . Yearly gradually
She loss weight
Now. 36 kgs. Stomach pain sometimes
Gas sometimes ,.
Now generally daily one or two times motion
Or toilet.

Well lanoxin and losartan can change potassium levels in body but they usually increase the levels in body so unlikely to be the culprit including other drugs too.
Looking at the significant amount of weight loss, recurrent loose stools and electrolyte changes seen we need to think in terms of organic causes of diarrhea like odd persistent parasitic infection, crohn s disease etc.
worthwhile getting a cbc crp esr, magnesium cortisol and (stool routine, occult blood, modified zn stain ) x 3 samples from a standard lab too.
another test like facal calprotectin though bit expensive will help to differentiate from both ibs and other conditions of intestine.
meanwhile keeping a tab on potassium levels and correcting them as an when needed will help significantly.
