My Dad Is Currently In Hospital With Heart And Kidney

Question: My dad is currently in hospital with heart and kidney failure. He has severe fluid retention but is slowly recovering. He has diabetes type 2 also insulin dependent. If dad was to stop drinking alcohol, he used to have 1 bottle of whisky a week and if he eats a healthy diet can we help stop the Heart and kidney failure progressing. I think he has stage 3 heart disease and stage 4 kidney disease
