Question: I consulted 2 dentists for my 4 year old daughter who has tooth decay problem. I got the X ray done and as per one dentist she needs root canal in 3 teeths but the other dentist said 2. I am not sure who is right. I need to know whether their analysis is correct or not. Attached the X ray for your reference. Please help.

Brief Answer:
Two teeth.

Detailed Answer:
Hi..

As per the x ray-
Yes, she need root canal in two teeth that is one upper and one lower..
The third tooth has decay but it is looking shallow..

But still I would need following answers so that I can guide you better.

Can you please tell that what is the status of pain?
How many teeth are painful?
Did the dentist tap the teeth, if yes how many teeth were painful on tapping?

Please revert back with answers..

She gets occassional pain in lower teeth. None of the dentist tapped the teeth so there was no pain reported at that time. Root canal was suggested for 3 lower teeth only so not sure which upper tooth you are talking about. Please confirm if anything is required for front teeth also.

Brief Answer:
Are front teeth painful?

Detailed Answer:
Hi..
Lower two teeth needs root canal that is for sure.
The third tooth if it is painful then should be root canal treated and if not simply filling will do.
For upper teeth I can see some decay in left molar.
It can be an artifact so a clinical examination can be done to confirm.
For front teeth can you please tell that are they painful or have any problems?

Please write back..

Regards.

Brief Answer:
Needs another x ray.

Detailed Answer:
Hi..
From this x ray the front teeth also seems to be needing root canal.
But it is not very clear.
So I would need you to get an IOPAR done of front teeth and send.
It will give a precise idea of whether root canal treatment should be done or just filling..

Regards.
