Is Pregnancy Possible After Taking Unwanted 72?
Question: Hi,
I am a 25 year old girl. I and my fiancee got intimate on 13th august. My period ended on 8th august. Although he didn't penetrate into me but I have given him blowjob and after ejaculating he inserted his finger into my vagina. So to avoid any circumstances of unplanned pregnancy I have taken unwanted 72 roughly within 48 hrs of this incident. I have taken this pill for first time. It has been 5 days and I have not experienced withdrawal bleeding. Is withdrawal bleeding compulsory to ascertain that I am not pregnant? If so when will that happen? Is there any chance of getting pregnant if I don't experience withdrawal bleeding? Also when can I expect my next period. My last period started on 5th august and I have a cycle of roughly 28 to 29 days. Kindly help.

Let me further state that the fertile period is between 10th and 18th day of your cycle. In other words, unprotected sex in this period can give you pregnancy. However, in case of the rest of the cycle, even unprotected sex with release of semen will not give you pregnancy (unprotected sex can still transmit venereal diseases, especially in case of multiple partners being involved). A blowjob and fingering on the 5th day of the cycle would therefore not make you pregnant in any case.
Having Unwanted-72 is usually supposed to give you periods (withdrawal bleeding) in 5-7 days. I do not know why that has not been the case here. However, since no penetrative sex was involved, that too in the safe portion of the cycle, I do not think that there is anything to worry about.

Pardon me for mistaking 8th August as the first day. Anyway, if it was the 10th day, there is indeed some risk involved. Unwanted-72 should have provided the protection but there is no way to be 100% sure. You would have to wait for the periods to occur and if they do not come in time, you would need to get your urine tested for pregnancy. You should wait for about a month from the date your cycle began (around 5th September) assuming that you still have not got your periods by then. Delay in periods can occur but is unlikely.
