Question: Hello Doctor,

Got Prolia injection from pharmacy and forgot to put it in the fridge
So it was in room temperature for 6 days before going into the fridge.

It has been over a month since that time.

Under these conditions, is it still safe to be used?

Thank you.

Brief Answer:
I would advise you not to use it until you talk to your pharmacist

Detailed Answer:

Hi,

The recommendations are that Prolia should be kept at low temperature that is 2 to 8 degree (but should not be frozen). Once intended to use the inj it should be brought to room temperature that is less then 25 degree. but once on room temperature the injection should be used with in 2 weeks.

As the inj was at room temperature for 6 days and now it's over a month, the literature would generally advise not to use it. That's what I would advise. The inj specially must not be used if there are any particles or if the inj cloudy.

However the best idea would be if you could talk to your pharmacist, and follow his advice. If you can't have a talk to them I would advise not to use it. We can always wait as this drug is never an emergency drug.

Hope I have answered your question. I will be glad to answer any further question about this.

Regards,
Dr. Rahman
