Detailed Answer:
Hi
Welcome to Healthcare-Magic
Greetings of the day

Dear Mr XXXXXXX

Finger sucking is quite commonly seen in children, it does not cause any adverse effects either on nutrition or dentition. Many of the children outgrow the habit by 3-5 years of age. it does not require any specific therapy.

Many of the Pediatrician do recommend Femite lotion( Composition Denatonium Benzoate) which is a bitter compound much bitter than neem leaves. Even though safety of product has not been conclusively demonstrated in clinical trials, it is still considered safe and no adverse reaction been noted. 1 drop can be applied to thumb of the child twice a day, it will deter the child from sucking the thumb.

In my clinical practise i do not advocate its use, and majority of babies outgrow the habit and stop sucking thumb.

Do get back to me if you need any further assistance, will be glad to assist you.
