Posted on Wed, 23 Aug 2017
Question: Hello, I am 20 weeks pregnant as we are redecorating our living room. my husband has to spray paint the moldings (using oil based spray paint). He spray painted outside waited for them to dry for about an hour and then put them up. I was not in the house when he was putting them up, however when i cam home the room still smelled. I did not go into the room, however am concerned about the lingering smell. We have fan going as well as windows open, however can this pose a risk?

Brief Answer:
unlikely to cause any adverse effects on the fetus

Detailed Answer:
Hi dear,
I have gone through your question and understand the concerns.
Not smelling the paint directly and exposure to the residual smell only is unlikely to cause any adverse effects on the fetus.
Only it can cause some nausea.
You can better avoid going to that room repeatedly.
Do not worry.
Hope you found the answer helpful.
