Brief Answer: Needs more robust evidence Detailed Answer: Hi XXXX Thanks for the query, Your question is a very direct one and I would like to give an equally direct reply. Fenvir is a combination of many plants, fruits and other natural ingredients that are claimed to cure herpes infection. However, it is not approved by the FDA [most likely as it contains all the natural ingredients so maybe it is not be classified as a drug]. I was unable to find any research that described the efficacy of all the combined ingredients against herpes. A few studies against individual ingredients are available and show that these are effective against herpes. Information about adverse effects is not available. The only available information is form the fenvir website saying no adverse reports have been reported. So as a medical practitioner, I need more robust evidence than these to prescribe this product. It may be effective but you must take all the above points into consideration before deciding about treatment. Hope that this answers your query. Thanks for using XXXXXXX Feel free to post any more queries that you may have. Have a good day. Dr Madhuri Bagde
