Is blood pressure of 117/70 a cause for concern?

Posted on Wed, 19 Jul 2017 in General Health
Question: I am thinking that the heart is like a pump on an engine like a fuel pump or oil pump that sends fuel and oil to the engine the engine being the body...my neighbors say it works exactly like an engine...what do you think...

Brief Answer:
That's perfect!

Detailed Answer:

Your reasoning is a correct analogy between the heart (in the body) and the Engine(of the car). The heart serves as the engine of a car circulating blood to the entire body which contains nutrients. After extracting the nutrients, the blood is returned to the heart for it to be enriched again for another distribution to the body.

I hope this addresses your query fully. I wish you well. Feel free to follow up if need be.

I have this idiot neighbor who says the higher your blood pressure the better it is for you...my resting blood pressure is 117/70 and she says that is bad for you...do you agree...?

Brief Answer:
I don't agree with her!

Detailed Answer:

The normal blood pressure should be (100-120)/70-80. You are good and there is no reason to be misled. Higher values are more worrisome.

I wish you well.
