Question: I was diagnosed with colitis on Tuesday and have been on antibiotics for 5 days with 2 left to go but I still have some pain. Do I need to go back in or is this normal?

Thank you. Yes, I am planning on taking the full course. They have me on Metronidazole 500 mg 3x per day and Augmentin 125 mg 2x per day.

Hello and thanks for follow up,
Augmentin is never used in colitis.
Main side effect of Augmentin is gastrointestinal.
Switch over to Ofloxacin 200 mg twice with metronidazole and take a probiotic like Econorm twice daily for 5 days and you would be fine.
Stop augmentin.
