I Took A 50mg Tramadol Sustained Release 8 Hours Ago

Question: I took a 50mg Tramadol sustained release 8 hours ago and at the same time took a 8mg Zofran tablet for nausea. I feel ok but just learned that the two drugs have contraindications and a dangerous drug interaction. Should I be worried? I assume the Zofran will be out of my system by tomorrow and I will be safe to take my morning dose of Tramadol?

Brief Answer:
may not have any complications

Detailed Answer:
HI, thanks for using healthcare magic

Tramadol SR and zofran can both increase the levels of a chemical called serotonin.

Though many persons can use this combination with no complications, some persons may experience issues of the level of serotonin raises to high.

The half life of a medication is the time it takes for the amount of drug in the body to decrease by half. It takes 3 to 5 half lives for most of the medication to leave or be eliminated from the body.

The half life of zofran is approximately 5.7 hours, this means that most of it should be eliminated by approximately 17.1 to 28. 5 hours.
This means, that as you stated, most of it should be out of your system by tomorrow if you wait at least 24 hours.

If you are not experiencing any symptoms, then this may remain this way.

Some symptoms to watch for are: tremor, confusion, agitation, fever, increased heart rate, diarrhea, sweating
Dramamine, if it works for you, can be used for nausea.

The old anti histamines, though for allergies mainly, can also sometimes help with nausea eg benadryl

I hope this helps, feel free to ask any other questions
