Let me give you a backstory. I caught a bad cold from my kids Week of November 27, 2021. My wife, kids and all had a really bad cough. No not Covid because we were all tested multiple times. During that time I had lots of drainage, runny nose and dark colored mucus I was spitting up. Fast forward to now I’m still having some cough. It is phlegm but clear. I can feel it dripping in the back of my throat and constantly clearing it out of my throat. It’s causing a tight feeling in my chest. I went to an urgent care and they did a chest x ray and he said it was all clear. Told me to start some prednisone and XXXXXXX tussin dm. Cough medicine has seemed to help some. Now I will say the cough I have now isn’t near as bad the week of Nov 27 but it is still nagging

Brief Answer:
This can be post infectious bronchitis.

Detailed Answer:
Thanks for your question on Ask a doctor forum.
I can understand your concern.
By your history and description, possibility of post infectious bronchitis is more likely.
In my opinion, you should get done Pulmonary Function Test (PFT) if possible.
You will need oral and inhaled bronchodilators.
Inhaled bronchodilators like Formoterol or salmeterol with budesonide or fluticasone.
May I know
1. Any smoking habit?
2. Any allergies?
3. Any wheezing sound from chest?
Please reply me answers of above asked questions so that I can guide you better about medicines and investigations.
Wish you good health. Thanks.
