I Have Mild Fatty Liver And A Gallbladder With A

Posted on Tue, 23 Mar 2021
Question: I have mild fatty liver and a gallbladder with a low ejection fraction. No pain. I’m concerned because my stool is not consistently dark brown. I would describe the color as brownish yellow. I have no other symptoms but I googled light color stool and allot of scary stuff came up. Should I be concerned? About the light brownish yellowish stool?

Sorry about the visual. The 2nd photo is just the same but highlighted. In the past several days I’ve had bowl movements that are much darker but this color is, I would say ‘the normal’ for me. As I said, I have no other symptoms. No jaundice, no pain, no tiredness. Just super worried about the stool color.

Detailed Answer:
Hello,

I have gone through your query and attached images. Here is my advice.

As per your history and attached images, I think it's normal.

Usually liver and gall bladder diseases presents with clay coloured stool and associated symptoms abdominal pain, fatigue, jaundice, loss of appetite. So in your case, nothing to concern.

Still considering history of mild fatty liver, I would suggest you to do liver function test, stool examination and ultrasound abdomen sos after physician consultation. Take a soft diet. Avoid fatty food.

Follow up with details.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

What is sos?
Also, I had a hida scan years ago and it showed a very low ejection fraction. Would that at times cause the yellowish color?
I also read that anxiety may cause yellowish stool due to speeding up transit time. I am certainly anxious and have been for quite a long time.

I also read that clay color means light grey. I’ve never had grey or white stools. They are usually dark mustard looking.

Please see detailed answer below.

Detailed Answer:
Hello,

Thank you for your reply.

Yellowish stool colour may be due to digestion issues or less bile produced by gall bladder.

As per your history, low ejection fraction of gall bladder may cause yellowish colour.

Second thing, anxiety may increase transit time which causes digestion issues.

Still it can't be considered abnormal unless you have other associated symptoms as mentioned above.

So avoid fatty foods. Take soft and light meal. Keep your self hydrated.

Sos for investigations means physician will advice necessary investigations after detailed evaluation.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
