Question: I have had heart palpitations for years and had them checked out by a doctor and they say they are benign. Lately every now and then I have had symptoms where after waking up in the middle of the night to pee after walking to the bathroom and sitting down the toilet my heart begins to pound really hard for about 1 minute so loud I can hear it in my ears then it goes away this doesn’t happen every night though . What may be causing this ?

Detailed Answer:
Hello XXXXXXX

After going through the medical details provided by you I would like to tell you that as your doctor has said that these palpitations are benign so I’ll assume most likely it will be paroxysmal supra ventricular tachycardias which happen due to some additional conduction pathways.

As your symptoms have increased in frequency so it’s important to start some meds to control that like beta blockers.

It’s advisable to discuss this with your treating doctor as written prescription and basic investigations like an ecg or HOLTER monitoring and basic blood tests might be required.

Kind Regards
