Posted on Tue, 30 Jan 2024
Question: I have been having hypertension since last 23 years. I am taking Cilacar 10 mg in the night and Olsar H 40 mg in the morning. But my systolic pressure is invariably over 150 while my diastolic pressure is between 75 and 80. i was not diabetic till recently but my last 9 months HA1 bc is 6.2 while my fasting sugar level is below 90 and post food , it is less than 140. I am also taking Homocheck, silodin 8 mg for my prostate enlargement. My ECG has remained same though i have RBBB since about 10 years. I am 73 years old, active, walk daily, careful on sodium intake. Should I change my medicine or do something else to bring down my systolic pressure.

Brief Answer:
Cilacar should be increased to 10 mg twice a day

Detailed Answer:
Hello,
Thanks for asking, I've reviewed the reports,

Firstly, your sugar level is fine and not in diabetic range. Anyway, keep control over sweets intake and continue to have regular exercises.

For your BP, Cilacar 10 mg should be increased to two times a day. You should monitor blood pressure regularly thrice a day for one week then once or twice a week. If BP is persistently more than 140/90 mmHg, then we will need to add further medicines.

Regular exercises like brisk walking, jogging according to your capacity at least 30 min a day and 5 days a week.

Hope this helps you and get back if you have any doubts.

Regards
