Question: I have a skin condition in my legs. It has been present since the last month or so. I took cetrizine and applied anti bact cream as advised in my previous question but it has not helped. Please advise. It basically starts as a water boil which is itchy and later becomes dry and scaly. It also seems to be leaving a mark on the skin. Also, it is not healing in its own.

Brief Answer:
Prurigo

Detailed Answer:
Hello and welcome to ask a doctor service. I have read your query and viewed the image and here is my advice.

You seem to have Prurigo which presents as itchy, dry papules/ nodules on arms, legs etc. The cause of prurigo in most cases is unknown (primary prurigo) though underlying atopy is often implicated and may be responsible for flaring the disease in winter season. Other known causes are liver disease, kidney disease, HIV infection (secondary prurigo) but most cases of prurigo have no known cause. I suggest you to continue with cetrizine tablet. in addition I suggest you to use a superpotent topical steroid ointment e.g either clobetasol propionate 0.05% (Tenovate Ointment) or halobetasol propionate 0.05% (Halovate Ointment), twice daily for 3-4 week.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if you need any more assistance.
