I Have Aortic Stenosis , The Ascending Aorta Is 4.1cm

Question: I have Aortic Stenosis, the ascending Aorta is 4.1cm and the aortic root is 3.4. My cardiologist has never mentioned an aneurysm but I just reviewed my medical record where I saw it listed. I have had echocardiograms each year since I was diagnosed. I recently had a Stress echo test. The results were excellent. The monitoring physician said the heart was in excellent condition and under no stress. I see my cardiologist every six months. I am asymptomatic. My questions are twofold: Am I missing anything and do I need to get a second opinion. Thank-you

Brief Answer:
If less than 4.8 cm there is no need to treat it surgically.

Detailed Answer:
Hello dear, welcome to Ask a doctor service.
I read your query and here is my advice.

I don't think that you are missing anything regarding to heart issues and aneurysm.
Your heart function is under control and it is excellent as your cardiologist mentioned.
Aneurysms usually are monitored frequently and every six months is enough. The changes in size are seen and also heart function is seen.
The repair (surgical repair) is usually done if aneurysm is more than 4.8 cm or if it is growing fast. In case that you are having an aneurysm less than 4.8 cm and isn't growing it is just monitored but no treatment is needed.
So I think you are not missing anything and there is no need for another opinion.

Hope I have answered the question.
Let me know if I can assist you further.
