Question: I had unbearable pain in my mid torso, at the bottom of my rib cage front and back, this got stronger over an hour to where I couldn’t lay down or find any position for it to ease and was about to go to the E R when I began to vomit, after about 1/2 and vomiting 6-7 times the pain finally started to ease. This morning I just feel a little nauseous, any ideas?

Brief Answer:
Probably gallstones, follow the advice below.

Detailed Answer:
Hello dear and welcome to ‘Ask A Doctor’ service.
I have reviewed your query and here is my advice.

Your symptoms can be related to many medical conditions.

In my opinion the symptoms can be related to gallstones.

I would suggest the following examinations to confirm the diagnosis:

A complete blood count

An ultrasound

Meanwhile, I recommend to use Buscopan 10 mg three tablets a day to relieve the pain.

I also recommend to take electrolyte solution such as Pedialyte to prevent dehydration because of vomiting.

If the diagnosis is confirmed the treatment consists in medications to dissolve the stones or surgery.

I suggest Ursodiol in my daily practice.

It is a prescribed medication, so you should consult your doctor before taking it.

Hope I have answered your query.
Let me know if I can assist you further.
