I Had A Cystoscopy On Oct 27 And My Catheter

default
Posted on Sat, 14 Dec 2019
Question: I had a cystoscopy on Oct 27 and my catheter was removed Nov 5. To date, there is still blood present in my urine and I'm still passing clots. Have completed all antibiotics. Is this normal? I'm now going into my 3rd week with voiding blood and clots in my urine. I was told to continue drinking water, stay hydrated, and as long as I could void within 6 hours, things will be ok. What is an expected time frame that the blood and clots will clear up and go away? Is there anything else I can do? Are there additional questions I should be asking the physician? Are there home remedies that can help?

Please provide few more details `

Detailed Answer:
Hello
Thanks for query .

Based on the facts that you have posted and to recapitulate the events you had undergone Robotic Radical Prostatectomy in 2013 and radiation in Oct 2018 and having difficulty in passing urine and gross hematuria for which Cystoscopic examination was carried out on 27 th Oct and catheter was placed which was removed on 5 th Nov but still has hematuria..

I shall be happy if you can post me more details to help me in making precise comments
1) What were the Cystoscopic findings ?
2) What is the source of bleeding ?
3)Was any procedure carried out to excise or incise the scar tissue (Bladder Neck stenosis )
?
4)Are you taking any blood thinner medication )?

Normally it takes a week to stop bleeding but it depends upon the cause of bleeding and source of bleeding.Looking at the history it is primarily important to find out the cause and source of bleeding so that necessary steps could be taken .

Please discuss above points with your treating Urologist .

In the mean time continue with the treatment he has advised

Hope I have answered your query ,please feel free to ask if you have more questions,I shall be happy to help you
Thanks and Regards.
