Question: I had a catheter attached for 32 and have a very good idea of how much urine my body makes. Over the course of a night I produce close to a liter. I had prostate procedure and now can urinate on my own and the catheter is no longer attached . However, if make almost a liter over night, should be urinating a liter upon arising? And if I do not, does that mean I am retaining?

Based on the facts that you have undergone Aqua dilatation for of Enlarged Prostate and passing about 1 liter of urine overnight .

I shall be happy if you can post me more details to help me in making precise comments and suggestions .
1) Are you taking any medication for BEP?
2) Are you Diabetic?
3) What is the size of your prostate reported on Ultrasound Scanning of abdomen ?
4) Have you done Uroflowmetry ?
if so what is the maximum flow rate ?

Normally urine production is more at night compared to during the day .Producing one liter of urine indicates normal kidney function .However passing a one liter of urine in a single urination does indicate bladder outlet obstruction which in your case is mostly due to Enlarged Prostate and needs to evaluate .

Take Tomsulosin and Dutasteride once daily .This will help to improve urine flow .
