I Discovered A Place On My Buttock (1 Side Only)

default
Posted on Fri, 9 Aug 2019
Question: I discovered a place on my buttock (1 side only) when I was scratching my self during a flareup of hemorrhoids. I felt It felt like "leather -y and dry. I want to see my dermatologist about it, and have my annual skin-check. My former dermatologist retired, so I have a new one. I'm nervous because the new doc is a man, and he has only seen me for an inflammation problem around my lips.
Can you give me some tips that would 1) Help me get an appt without a 1 or 2 months wait; or 2) Perhaps give me a hint on what I should call the "thingy" ? Thank you!

Brief Answer:
Lichen simplex chronicus, topical steroid & antihistaminic

Detailed Answer:
Hi
Welcome to ask a doctor service
I have gone through your query and it seems to be lichen simplex chronicus.
It is a chronic type of eczema.
I would recommend you to apply topical steroid like clobetasol propionate cream on the affected area twice daily and take antihistaminic like tablet Chlorpheniramine maleate 4 mg once or twice daily depending on the intensity of itching.
Steroid preparations are prescription drugs and you need to see the doctor in person to get them.

Dr Asmeet
