Question: I did a urine test that showed I have a trace of ketones in my urine. Is it safe to take metformin when I have trace of ketones?

No in case of ketosis, metformin should be stopped and insulin should be started till ketosis subsides.
Because metformin itself causes lactic acidosis and may further complicate the situation.
