Question: I am looking for advice to help my 48 yr. old daughter who just had a spinal fusion, was discharged but now has a very painful case of Thrush. Her GP gave her a prescription mouthwash that she is supposed to swish & swallow but it makes her sick. She needs to drink fluids & be able to eat to get back her health but this condition limits her intake. I am in NH & she is in KY. I am a wreck with
worry about her. Looking for help please!!!!!!

Hii. Very sorry for the oral thrush. This oral thrush may be due to candidiasis infection which is fungal in origin. So she has to maintain proper oral hygiene. Take betadine gargle so that there gets no infection in the oral cavity. If it is persisting still with betadine gargle you can give candid mouth paint to prevent candidiasis. For oral it is very difficult to maintain hygiene and it is very painful at most of the times. But you have to do the gargle and candid mouth paint as it is the only mode of treatment. You can take glysterine or hexidine mouth wash which can be much more comfortable to have than betadine gargle. You can take some vitamin supplements which will help to regenerate the epithelial surface. Please review if you have any queries.
