Question: I am a 44 year old female. I am due for my period in two days and have been experiencing a strange pinching feeling lower mid abdomem, sometimes radiated towards my belly. It happens randomly throughout the day and lasts a second or two. Can this be pms? I also suffer frequent bouts of bacterial vaginosis? Could the pain be related to bv. I do not have any pain with urination

Brief Answer:
Can be due to gas and indigestion.

Detailed Answer:
Hello,
Thanks for trusting us with your health concern.

A mild pinching feeling in the mid-lower abdomen is not likely to be related to BV or PMS. It can happen due to a urine infection but you do not have any burning urination. The pain that you have can be related to gas and indigestion- can be mild intestinal colic or a uterine cramp. This can be an abdominal muscle strain also in case there is a history of doing any strenuous activity recently.
Such mild pain usually subsides with rest and a hot compress.

Please feel free to discuss further. I will be glad to answer the follow-up queries that you have.

Wishing you good health.

Thanks for the follow up. At times the pinching pain can be a bit more intense. I have had this once before and it also occurred right before my period. Can such pain be related to hormones?

Brief Answer:
Can be related to periods in few cases.

Detailed Answer:
Hello.

The short term pinching pain can be due to mild ovarian pain and might be related to hormonal changes in few cases. This can also happen due to mild uterine cramps before the periods.
Regards.
