Brief Answer:
Please get proper evaluation.

Detailed Answer:
Hello,

Thanks for sharing your health concern with us.

I have gone through your query and I would like to know
1. If you have any symptoms of urinary tract infection like burning, pain etc
2. If you had any urinary exam and treatment in the past
3. If you have any symptoms of vaginal infection and/or treatment for the same
4. Whether you have the habit of using tampons or napkins for more than 8 hours during your menstrual period
5. If you are sexually active and whether your partner has any infections.

I would suggest a proper clinical evaluation and plan further management.

Voiding depends on the hydration of the body and can vary depending on the amount of perspiration and the fluid intake.

To avoid the smell, try to use loose cotton undergarments and maintain good genital hygiene. Do not douche or use strong soap solutions. You can use mild antiseptic solution.

You also need to check your blood sugar levels, urinalysis and exclude vaginal infection.

Hope you find this information helpful. Please let me know if I can assist you further.

regards,
Shanti.V.

Hello doctor, thank you for your detailed reply. No I have never undergone any tests as such so far in my life. My blood sugar is normal. No I have not undergone any urinalysis and no, I am not sexually active.

Could you suggest some tips for proper genital hygiene to avoid the smelly underwear. I do use loose cotton underwear. I change my sanitary napkin every 6-8 hours. Which doctor should I consult for further evaluation? A gynecologist?

Detailed Answer:
Hello,

Thanks for writing back.

You need to see a gynecologist for evaluation and if needed, you could be referred to other specialists.

Urinalysis, speculum exam and swabs, blood tests to check the general health are needed for planning further management.

As I mentioned earlier, you can use mild antiseptic solution for cleaning the genital area. Check if your underwear is the cause of the smell and change the brand if necessary. Also, soaking the garment in dettol solution for a few minutes before drying removes the smell.

Hope this helps. Please feel free to contact for any more information.

regards,
Shanti. V.
