Question: I already responded to Dr. Kumar's answer by asking him another question. I don't think that my question was correctly transmitted to him when I pushed "submit". If not, how do I ask him again? This is very frustrating. Please let me know one way or the other. And I can't understand why you can't get through to my email. I was on here for more that a year prior to this time and you had no trouble. Please try to remedy the situation. XXXXXXX

dr. XXXXXXX a nurse practitioner saw me and wants to do a saliva test on me to see what meds would be most effective. This will take about a week for results. This seems like the best approach. I've been on antidepressants for 40+ years and she told me that at the present time I am on NOTHING except a couple of mood stabilizers. Could that be why I feel so bad? And what do you think of the saliva test? XXXXXXX

Brief Answer:
Follow up

Detailed Answer:
Dear XXXXXXX
Thanks for follow up.

First of all I feel the worsening of symptoms can be attributed to discontinuation of antidepressants in recent past provided there is temporal relationship in these two things (worsening of symptoms and discontinuation). In case there is no temporal correlation it is possible that there are fluctuations due to change in weather (winter often brings more severe depression). There may be the other possible causes but will not be possible on my part to explain as I have little information about your case history.

Regarding the saliva test, I like to acknowledge that it gives a clue about certain antidepressants whether they will work or not. In does not indicate which antidepressant will work best for you.

I hope this answers you.
Feel free to write back to me if you have more questions.
Thanks and regards.
