Question: I already asked a doctor my question and paid $20.00 and received no answer/ I stated I am having pain behind the knee radiating up the upper back of my left leg. This leg was broken some 18 yrs ago and is pinned. I have been to an orthopaedic, had 4 shots in my knee, had a month of P.T. with no relief. I have been treating it with ice packs myself and that gives me relief. Could it be a Meniscus tear beiahind the knee.

Was the fracture involving knee joint? A knee joint fracture is known to precipitate osteoarthritis. Besides aging and extensive wear and tear leads to osteoarthritis.

In this context, considering your age and previous history of fracture along with the fact that you are being treated with intraarticular injections, you are most likely suffering from osteoarthritis.

Have you had MRI of the affected knee? MRI scan will help us identify the severity of the condition as well as rule out possibilities of co-existing meniscal and ligament damages. Your orthopedic doctor will know about it.
