How To Overcome Rude Behavior From My Mother Towards Female Friends?

default
Posted on Tue, 24 Nov 2015
Question: How do i deal with a mother than is always rude to my girlfriends. She has a mindset that they need to "win" her over and she treats them really rude. She only does this with my girlfriends. When i bring home a guy friend she is not rude. This eventually destroys my girlfriends confidence in our relationship an then ruins my confidence as well.

Brief Answer:
Mother and girlfriends

Detailed Answer:
Hi,

Thank you for your query. I can understand your concerns.
This situation is very sensitive and requires utmost care while solving. It is common for every mother to be possessive about her son. In some cases this behavior might aggravate when a mother is faced with a situation where a 'girlfriend' is perceived as a threat to her own position in her son's life.
In such a situation the only remedy is to openly talk to your mother about it. The conversation should begin with a 'taking into confidence' act. Where you start by telling her how much you love her and the importance of her in your life. Then you should try and make her understand that, your girl friend is also an important part of your life but in no way she means more to you than her.
Please note that such conversations should not be a one time thing. It should happen over time again and again. At the end of the day, remember that your mother just wants the best for you. Only healthy conversations can solve this issue.
Hope this helps you.
