Question: How significant are the absolute and relative nucleated red blood cell counts in management of sickle cell crisis? Do they influence treatment decisions?

Nucleated RBCs signify hemolysis. They have no role in pathogenesis of sickle cell crisis, which is due wedging of capillaries by sickle cells.

Hence we need not target them in management of sickle cell crisis.
